In the mid 1990’s Alan Maxwell developed the first Alpaca Newsletter for the Hawkesbury/Blue Mountains Australian Alpaca Region. It was called - appropriately - Spits & Pieces.

He was the first Editor and embedded the newsletter as a regular part of the HBM AAA. The next editor, John “Scoop” Hay continued the tradition for at least a decade.

Then in 2009 Fiona took over. So it was back to being compiled by a Maxwell.

How Alan, “Scoop” or Fiona ever found the time to voluntarily put it together is still a mystery.

So, in the age of Broadband, WiFi and “normal” people able to create websites, the printed version of Spits and Pieces has gone the way of the Dodo ... and most of the information now appears on the Region’s website.
